FAQs
What does it mean that The Luminary and The Boise Bard Players are holding these auditions/interviews jointly?
By auditioning or interviewing, you will be considered for shows in both of our companies’ seasons! We will reach out separately if we have an opportunity to offer you. If you have particular interest in filling a position for a specific company or production, please let us know at your appointment. Through these auditions, The Luminary is primarily seeking to fill positions for the first show in our season, FUNNIE, but we will also be considering folks from these auditions for our second show, THE MEDEA PROJECT, which is a collaboration between The Luminary and The Boise Bard Players.
Are there only female roles/positions available?
No! While The Luminary is a female-forward company and we try to hire as many female and gender expansive folks as possible, we welcome folks of all genders to audition/interview. There are 4 male roles in FUNNIE we will be auditioning for.
Should I not audition if I can’t do a British accent?
No, you should definitely still audition! We will be playing with flavors of British accents, but you do not need to be a pro to audition, and you shouldn’t not audition because of that!
How old do I need to be to audition?
You must be 18+ to audition.
Do I need to audition for both companies?
No! If you only want to audition for one company, here’s what to prepare:
The Boise Bard Players: one 60-90 second Shakespeare verse monologue
The Luminary: one 60-90 second comedic contemporary monologue + please be prepared to read sides from the play and experiment with dialects (Cockney, Estuary, RP/Queen’s English)
What do I do if I cannot attend auditions/interviews on January 24?
Please reach out to us at theluminaryboise@gmail.com to schedule an alternate time!
